Galway City
Located on Ireland’s west coast along the Wild Atlantic Way, Galway City is considered Ireland’s cultural capital. Galway has been named a UNESCO City of Film and recently named European Capital of Culture 2020.
With its narrow medieval streets, historic buildings, buskers, colorful storefronts and vibrant nightlife, Galway has a bohemian flair. The city explodes with energy in July, when the festival scene reaches its peak. The Galway Film Fleadh, Galway International Arts Festival and Galway Fringe Festival invite visitors from around the world to experience the best in music, film, theatre, literature and visual art. Galway Races, a week-long horse racing festival at the end of July, is Ireland’s best-known racing festival.
