International undergraduate applications to all UK universities are managed by UCAS (University and College Admissions Service) and Oscar Education’s professional university advisors guide you through the entire university application process.

How long does undergraduate education take?

In undergraduate study, most foreign students take a three-year undergraduate study that includes a combination of seminars, workshops and conferences made up of different modules. Some modules are optional so that students can tailor their education to the areas of greatest interest.

While some undergraduate majors, such as science and engineering, can take up to four years to complete, accelerated two-year undergraduate studies allow students to complete their undergraduate studies quickly and find employment faster.

Types of Undergraduate Education

In addition to the standard 3-year undergraduate education, minor or double major programs require students to allocate their time to two different programs. This means more module choices and more job opportunities after graduation.

UK Undergraduate Admission Requirements

In general, UK universities look at students’ proficiency in 2 areas, Academic success and English level. Most UK Universities can accept a High School Diploma for university entry. As for Academic Achievement, students with a High School Diploma GPA of 80% and above can have the chance to enter universities in the UK directly.

Secondly, Universities in the UK usually require students to be at 6.0 – 6.5 (upperintermediate) in the IELTS Academic exam for admission. While evaluating the application, British Universities take into account the reference letters that the students have received from their teachers and the letters of intent written in the “UCAS” form, as well as their English proficiency and High School grades.

Most UK Universities can also offer direct first-year admissions to students who have not received an IB (International Baccalurate), AP (Advanced Placement), or SAT education.

In the event that UK Universities do not offer direct 1st year admission to students, the Foundation Program , which is a one-year Academic Preparation course, is recommended. These programs are offered by universities or by collaborating colleges. The courses taken in this program consist of subjects to be taught at the university and also help the student’s academic English development.

Letter of Intent: It is a letter that explains the reasons why the student wants to read this section.

Transcript: Chart of student’s grades in high school

Reference Letter: Reference letter to be received from one of the teachers from whom the student is trained.

CV: A short curriculum vitae describing the internship and out-of-school activities that the student has participated in.

IELTS / TOEFL: Student’s English proficiency certificate (It is not required to be sent at the time of application.)

Accommodation solutions

The majority of students who receive undergraduate or graduate education in the UK stay in university dormitories or private dormitories, at least in their first year. Universities in London, Manchester, Liverpool and many other cities often guarantee students accommodation in their first year. The majority of students prefer to stay in dormitories in their first year in order to make an environment, get used to the city they live in and the university they study at. Again, many options such as homestay, rental flats and private dormitories are offered to students for accommodation solutions.

University Dormitories

University dormitories are designed as single, double or 3-4 person rooms. Although single rooms are limited, they are the types of rooms that students who apply and pay early can rent more easily. Almost all dormitories have facilities such as laundry, television room, cafeteria and eating places. Some self-catering dormitories have kitchen areas where students can also cook. In the UK, university dormitories are mostly located on the university campus, but they may also be scattered in different parts of the city. Security is always at the forefront of the dormitories, which are generally easily accessible on foot, by bicycle, or by a single vehicle.

Homestay Homestay accommodation

, which is the type of accommodation most preferred by students studying in the UK, can be arranged in single or double rooms, with or without meals, according to the student’s request. The student can be selective in many matters from the pet that the owner keeps to whether he smokes or not, he can specify if he has a special diet about food, and family accommodation can be arranged with the closest family that meets these conditions.

Private Dormitories

One of the accommodation types preferred by students who do not want to stay in university dormitories, who cannot find a place or who do not like their comfort, is private dormitories. Private dormitories, which may cost a little higher than university dormitories depending on their location and qualifications, can be 15 -30 minutes away from city centers or university campuses.

Flats for Rent

One of the most preferred accommodation types for undergraduate or postgraduate students in the UK is flats for rent. Generally, after staying in the dormitory for the first year, getting to know the city and acquiring the environment, apartments for 2, 3 or 4 people are rented individually or with university friends.
